Sony KDL60EX720 BRAVIA KDL-60EX720 Review : The KDL-60EX720 has nice styling, looks good with the piano black finish. The initial setup on this TV is very simple with on screen prompts to follow.
2D looks fantastic with rich colors, a nice crisp picture and little to no motion blur.
My intial thoughts on the 3d aspects of this TV were that it pretty much su*ked. I later found that the problem was the Harry Potter 3D blue ray that came with the 3D glasses was filmed very dark with 3D filming being pretty poor as well. I was almost to the point of making an attempt to return the TV. I then tried some 3D sample content sony posts on one of its internet sites you can watch through the TV via one of the widgets. Let me just say that 3D looks very good on this TV with the right movie. If I were Sony I’d ditch the Harry Potter Discs for something that has better 3D qualities.
The Remote is okay, but lacks a QWERTY keyboard which makes it a pain to type with. I wish sony made an upgraded remote for this TV with an actual keyboard.
The TV is suppose to read content off of an external harddrive or thumb drive via USB, but I find that the file types and the file naming limit what this TV can see and display. with that said, I also have a Sharp Aquos which will read and display anything I plug into it. I don’t know why the Sony can’t do the same. Hopefully Sony will include this in one of it’s software updates in the future. I’d like to be able to see existing folders content I already have without having to go rename and move everything into a new directory.
The sound on this TV is a little weak considering the TV cost over $2K, but not a major deal breaker otherwise.
All-n-all this TV gives you a ton of features for the money compared to other brands.
The TV is slowly growing on me.
I would recommend this TV to a friend. Be sure to buy a warranty for piece of mind.
