Marantz AV7005 Audio Video Pre-Processor Review : Yes, I’m an ex-audiophile. why ex? because I got married and now with kids.
Used to invest a lot in hi-fi! 15″ Velodyne subwoofer, thousands of dollars spent on separates (Anthem AVM-20 and MCA5) expensive cabling (audioquest) and you name it.
Rcently noticed there’s a pretty attractive Marantz processor with all the latest and greatest features. the only thing lacking in that AV Pro is the pricy THX Ultra whatever certification.
My main concern after reading all the specs, is that for such a low price (realtiv to the average high-end AV Proc that range $3k-10k) I would probably need to settle for the sound quality comparing to my Anthem.

Guess what, I’ve been testing this sysytem for several weeks now(connected through XLR to my Anthem Amp) and it kicks my previous $3K worth processor a$$, in terms of sound quality. I’ve spent hours listening to known tracks and movies. I’m deeply impressed! what a bargain. I actually doubt my Anthem amplifier now
I just feel very dumb for all those years investing in niche overpriced components while a mass market AV manufacturer actually outperforms all those hyped aluminum coated devices for a fraction of the price!
